Get Outside this October Half-Term 2020
With stunning beaches and the town centre just moments away from the Sail Lofts holiday cottages in St Ives, you’re well placed to get out and explore everything that the town has to offer. Whether you’re looking to hire a wetsuit and get in the water, set off on a coastal adventure or scope out a scenic spot for lunch, there are many options that the whole family can enjoy this half term in St Ives.
Surf Lessons & Equipment Hire
If you’re thinking about trying your hand at surfing, you couldn’t be off to a better start than under the expert tutorage of St Ives Surf School. Lessons take place on Porthmeor Beach, just moments from your holiday cottage and St Ives, and the friendly team make the experience an enjoyable one to remember. If you’re no stranger to surfing or if you want to dive straight in, they also offer equipment hire alone for boots, suits and boards.
Family Walks
There’s no better time than the present to embrace the glorious natural beauty of Cornwall. With so much on offer right on the doorstep of your holiday cottage in St Ives, there’s no need to venture too far, however if the mood takes you there are some stunning spots slightly further afield. We love Porthcurno and the awe-inspiring Minack theatre carved into the cliff-face and St Michaels Mount, a unique tidal island just a few minutes from Penzance. Both offer picturesque beach walks with plenty to occupy and intrigue younger minds.
Food and Views
With so many options for food and drink and a high standard across the board, you’re undoubtedly spoilt for choice in St Ives - however while the sun is still shining and outdoors is still an option, it’s only right we make the most of it. We can whole-heartedly recommend the beach cafes, each one with a slightly different offering. Both Porthgwidden and Porthmeor Beach Café are minutes from your holiday cottage in St Ives and boast stunning terraces on which to sit and enjoy a view while you enjoy a bite to eat. For special occasions and treats it has to be Porthminster, where you can enjoy a gin or cocktail (or two) at their outdoor Mediterranean garden bar while you wait for your table.
