Sunday Roast with a Walk

As we move into autumn and the chillier days approach, we thought we'd share with you some of our favourite walks so you can experience the coastal beauty around you.  Along the coast path there are a variety of different types of walks ranging in length and difficulty, and the great part is you can go as far as you want to. Here we have rounded up a few of our favourite walks that also incorporate a great spot for Sunday lunch.

St Ives to Carbis Bay

The coastal path between St Ives and Carbis Bay is a very pleasant walk offering stunning views across the bay. You can easily do the walk in 30-40 minutes allowing time to take pictures. If you fancy a more strenuous walk, you can continue along the coast path to Lelant.

Sunday Lunch Spot - We are fortunate enough to have many places that do a fantastic Sunday Roast. Depending if you'd prefer to have your roast before, during or after your walk there are a few great spots to enjoy a traditional roast dinner. Porthminster Kitchen located on the Wharf does a great Sunday Roast plus it has the incredible views of Porthminster beach. The Lifeboat Inn on the harbour front is also known to do an excellent Sunday Roast with suitable vegetarian and vegan options available, accompanied with a view of the harbour. In Carbis Bay, The Gannet Inn, offers a delicious lunch menu and makes for a great stop-off mid walk.

St Ives to Zennor

Alternatively, you can walk in the other direction towards Zennor, this again is a beautiful walk along the coast path towards the west of Cornwall. This walk is significantly longer and more challenging as it's around 6 miles and takes roughly 3 to 4 hours. There is the option to walk back to St Ives through the country side footpaths rather than back along the coast if you fancied it, or there is a bus service that links St Ives and Zennor.  A lovely spot to stop for a Sunday Roast is the Tinner Arms in Zennor, a perfect spot to rest and refuel before embarking on your return trip to St Ives.

The Coastal Path at Gwithian

The Hayle, Gwithian and Godrevy area is another lovely stretch of coastline that boasts lovely views back towards St Ives. Whether it's an invigorating stroll along Hayle beach or a more strenuous hike from Godrevy Lighthouse to Hells Mouth, this area of Cornwall offers breathtaking scenery and miles of walking routes. There is plenty of parking along this stretch with large national trust carparks at Godrevy and smaller car parks dotted along the way from Gwithian to Portreath.

Sunday Lunch Spot -  The Rockpool at Gwithian is a relaxed spot for a Sunday lunch, offering a meat and vegetarian option. Located within the dunes at Gwithian, The Rockpool is a great start or end point to your Sunday stroll.

Porthcurno to Land's End

If you wanted to venture further afield and discover more of the west of Cornwall then the walk from Porthcurno to Land's End is a firm favourite. This coastal trail is around 4.75 miles and takes approximately 2 and a half hours. This walk is very popular with local walkers and runners not only because of the amazing scenery, but also because the trail is on the easier side.
