Christmas Lights near St Ives
There is nothing better than wrapping up warm and heading out on an evening to see Christmas lights with family and friends. Grabbing a hot chocolate or mulled wine and a mince pie whist watching lights sparkles, and hearing Christmas Carols in the background. It's one of the best ways to kick start the festive season.
We can’t wait to see Cornwall light up this Christmas. With lots of switch on's happening over the next couple of weeks, we have put together a few must- visit places, all near St Ives.
Hayle Christmas Light switch on
Join Hayle Christmas light Switch on this weekend on 25th November at 6:30pm at the Day Centre, alongside entertainment and festivities. Feel even more festive by joining the light parade, meeting at North Quay at 4:45pm with the options of fancy dress too.
Angarrack Christmas Lights
Designed and built in Angarrack, this quiet village in Cornwall turns into a brilliant light display overnight, drawing in crowds of locals and visitors' alike. The lights cover most of the village, showcasing the 12 days of Christmas and are an absolute must-see if you're visiting Cornwall over the festive period.
The lights will officially turn on the evening of Saturday December 3rd, then daily between 5:30pm and 9:30 pm, until the 5th January 2023.
Mousehole Christmas Lights
The Mousehole Christmas Lights are a tradition here in Cornwall, and date back to 1963. With many visiting yearly to see the lights.
This year the lights are being switched on gradually between the 12th – 17th December, making the full display illuminated with plenty of time to see them before the Christmas week. The lights will be switched off on the 6th January.
Penzance Christmas Lights
Head across to Penzance on the 26th November (a short 15-minute drive away) when the festive season is launching in Penzance for a day of ‘Celebrating Christmas by the sea'.
The Christmas market will be running from 10:30am – 7pm. Alongside lots of things to enjoy and do before the official light switch on at 5pm including; street entertainment, music, and also a silent disco for all the family in the evening.
There are may more light displays located slightly further afield, but well worth the trip....
Trengwainton Christmas Lights
Take a short drive over to Penzance to The National Trust Gardens, Trengwaiton, where the amazing walled garden will be covered in lights. With an array of structures made by local artists, schools and partners, this is a must see this Christmas. Advance booking is required.
Lost Gardens of Heligan
Visit the Lost Gardens of Heligan, where you will be welcomed to stroll along a magical garden trail of glowing lanterns and installations. There is plenty of opportunity to see the spectacular display, as the trail will be running from 18th November - 2nd January.
Charlestown, Tunnel Of Lights
The underground tunnel at the Shipwreck Museum in Charlestown has been transformed for Christmas, into The Tunnel of Lights, made up of thousands of lights. Visit throughout December to become immersed in the magic and excitement of Christmas.
