Great things happen when we work together
With St Ives being renowned for its wonderful restaurants and chefs, it became a logical choice to turn to these experts to share their knowledge in order to raise money for a little girl called Coco, and her need for ABA therapy (Applied Behaviour Analysis).
Coco’s Cook Book
In each Sail Lofts self-catering apartment in St Ives you shall find a very special cookbook, that is filled with a collection of recipes from in and around the St Ives area, from fabulous chefs to wonderful friends. Including the Cancun Burrito added by Paul Niccolls at The Mex, to Monclade of Cornish Mussels from Grant at Alba.
The book covers all tastes, and cooking styles bringing together a smorgasbord of delight, and available to guests, for a small donation, to take home a taste of St Ives.
Coco’s Autism Journey
Coco is 5 years old and has Autism, she is also non-verbal. Currently there is no cure. It’s a lifelong condition, so to help improve Coco’s chances of communicating the sales of the book are going to go towards ABA therapy, an intensive, one to one therapy that is extremely repetitive and should ideally be done for 20-40 hours per week. Typically 1 years therapy costs around £45,000 and it is recommended that 2 years of therapy is initially needed.
The project has been running since May this year and has already raised a staggering £41,000, with the wider aim of raising awareness of Autism, and the struggles faced by individuals and their families.
Should you wish to find out more about the project please visit https://gogetfunding.com/cocos-autism-journey/or to purchase a copy of the cook book please get in touch with the office.
The books are available by donation of at least £6, with all profits going to Coco’s Autism Journey. We hope you enjoy the book as much as we do, it has become a firm family favourite in our house especially for its Blondies recipe to be found on page 30 by Lee Wilson from Porthminster Beach Café.
Not forgetting Karen Chapman’s Stuffed Camel, feeding up to 150 and includes a medium camel, 4 lambs, 20 chickens and a handful of eggs!
We would like to say a big well done to everyone involved, and hope you enjoy the book as much as we do!
