"This is the first retrospective in the UK of the Egyptian-Canadian artist of Armenian origin, Anna Boghiguian (Cairo, 1946). A close observer of the human condition, the artist draws equally on the past and present, poetry and politics, joyfulness and a critique of the modern world. This immersive exhibition features dramatic large-scale installations of paintings on sailcloth and papier-mache sculptures, alongside more intimate displays of artist books and elements of her own studio. For this exhibition, Anna Boghiguian has created a new work inspired by the industrial history of Cornwall; featuring characters, processes and materials drawn from the mining and fishing industries.
Tate Create | February Half Term

The Tate is an iconic part of the town and for many, a visit is a must when in St Ives. Understandably, though, the thought of visiting a gallery with children in tow can be less than thrilling. Introducing Tate Create, a creative workshop that goes hand in hand with the current exhibition by artist Anna Boghiguian.
"Get creative this February Half Term - Be inspired by the many journeys of artist Anna Boghiguian and design a super sailboat to hang in our floating flotilla. Pick up a Voyager Sketch sheet, and head into the exhibition to get some ideas then print your own sail back in our learning studio and make a boat to hang in our floating flotilla on our washing line waves or take it with you to float away at home."
Tate Create runs from 16th - 24th February, between 11am - 15.00pm. There's no need to book, just drop in.
