Don’t let the rain dampen a good time.
Flash floods and rainy weather have hit Cornwall this week leaving one question that doesn’t really make it’s way through people’s minds whilst they stay in out luxury self catering accommodation in St Ives – ‘What do you do when it rains?’ The fact of the matter is I’ve grown up in Cornwall and to be honest, I remember the days it rains more than the days it’s warm and sunny. While the weather probably has a bigger impact on those who come down to stay with us (and for good reason, you never want it to rain whilst away), you never should let it dampen your mood even if you’re soaked wet through.
Beach walks
If you’re still after that beach fix while in St Ives then why not get the mac out of the pack put the wellies on and take a stroll across Porthmeor? The best part is the beach will be practically yours to explore on your own, discover rock pools or take a stroll to the sea’s edge. It doesn’t matter how drenched you get when you can come back to your home from home in one of our luxury self catering apartments and get back in the warm once again so stave off sitting indoors and get outside!
St Ives town & St Ives museum
The rain does certainly get somewhat taxing at times but that’s no reason to not get out and traverse the town. St Ives has so many places to go and stop by for a bite to eat or a quick coffee and cake after mazing through the many shops through Fore Street. If you’re also looking for a place to take refuge with the kids then why not take a look at the St Ives museum and look through the history of the town under shelter.
Newlyn Filmhouse
If going out and about is not your kind of thing then why not pop down to Newlyn and visit the filmhouse? Whether it’s a screening of a National Theatre performance or the latest box office climber it’s a great way to make the most of your day regardless of the weather limitations!
Tate St Ives
If you’re staying with us and have a taste for the arts then why not make the most of your complimentary Tate tickets and take the short walk to the gallery and have a look at the most recent exhibition? Or why not brave the Barbara Hepworth gardens in the wet weather. But even if art isn’t your thing there’s certainly no reason to not try out the Tate Café, with a 10% off card for the shop and café too there’s really nothing stopping you!
So while the weather might be against us at times there’s really no reason to let it dampen your spirits. Cornwall’s full of wonderful places to visit regardless of the weather so let the rain wash the frown away and get out there and make the most of it! If you’re looking to stay in St Ives (and don’t mind the occasional bit of rain) then why not take a look at our self catering apartments in St Ives online and ensure you’re here to enjoy the best of both worlds.
