Stunning Beaches
St Ives boasts some of Cornwall’s most beautiful beaches, each offering its unique slice of paradise under the sun. Just a stone’s throw away from Sail Lofts, we have Porthmeor Beach, a popular destination for many reasons. Its large size makes it a family-friendly beach with a wide expanse of golden sand for children to play on. There are also rock pools on both the east and west sides to explore marine life.
Porthmeor is also a great spot for surfing too and St Ives Surf School offers excellent opportunities for beginners to learn the sport, while intermediate surfers can refine their skills. Sail Lofts guests also benefit from a discount when booking lessons with St Ives Surf School.
Porthminster Beach is another family favourite, with its soft golden sands and calm, clear waters perfect for swimming. This gorgeous, sheltered beach offers stunning views of St Ives Bay, Hayle, and Godrevy beach and lighthouse. Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) at Porthminster, allowing you to embrace the breath-taking surroundings on the water.
Porthgwidden Beach, a smaller and more secluded spot, offers a peaceful retreat. Its sheltered cove is perfect for sunbathing and paddling in the gentle waves. Located next to The Island, Porthgwidden is just a short stroll from our luxury self-catering properties in St Ives. Although smaller, it is definitely a beach not to be missed.
No matter which beach you choose, the warm weather in St Ives promises a perfect day filled with sun, sea and sand.
Dinner Overlooking the Coast
As the sun sets over the shimmering waters of St Ives, there's no better way to end a perfect day than with a delightful dinner by the beach. St Ives offers a variety of fantastic restaurants incorporating local produce into their culinary experiences.
Porthminster Café is an essential stop, celebrated for its seafood dishes made with fresh, local ingredients. Enjoy a romantic meal as the waves softly reach the shore, creating an unforgettable ambiance.
Porthmeor Beach Café offers a vibrant atmosphere throughout the day, but there's something extra special about watching the sunset over Porthmeor Beach. The café provides divine alfresco dining in their heated pods and a delicious tapas selection you won’t want to miss.
Porthminster Kitchen is another excellent place to dine, offering both daytime and evening meals. The restaurant takes a twist on Cornish cuisine, combining it with worldwide flavours using locally sourced ingredients. Situated above the harbour, it features a large terrace and grand windows that soak up the glorious views of the harbour and town making it a perfect retreat from the hustle below.
