Father Christmas Arrives
On Friday 29th November, spectators will line the Wharf railings as Father Christmas alights from the Lifeboat onto Cornish soil under the watchful gaze of his friends at the RNLI. The harbour front is at most a 5-minute walk from your luxury cottage in St Ives and the youngsters will love seeing Father Christmas arrive in a way that won’t be easily forgotten!
Christmas Markets
With spirits high from the arrival of Santa Claus, why not head over to the Saffron Christmas Markets at the Guildhall? Warm up with some festive food and drink and enjoy the dulcet tones of the Phoenix singers while you peruse over 40 makers and traders of art and gifts. The Christmas market will run for the whole weekend and is a great opportunity to pick up some thoughtful and unusual gifts ahead of the big day. Opening hours are as follows: Friday 29th 6-9pm, Saturday 30th 10-5pm and Sunday 1st December 10-4pm.
Lantern Parade & Christmas Lights Switch On
The following weekend sees the town centre closed to traffic as the whole of St Ives prepares for the annual Lantern Parade. Wrap up warm and head out to see children, charities and businesses alike come together in stunning procession of homemade lanterns. Last year saw Master of Ceremonies Shanty Baba and the Samba Celtica drummers set the pace as the parade made its way from Market Square, along Fore Street and around the Wharf before making for Royal Square for the official Christmas Lights Switch-On. It’s the perfect time for a festive stroll around St Ives to see the lights before heading home to the comfort of your luxury cottage in St Ives.
