The Journey of Our Christmas Trees
If you were among our wonderful guests who celebrated Christmas and New Year with us, we’d like to share a little story about where our delightful Christmas trees came from—and the new chapter of their journey now that the festive season is behind us.
Our trees were sourced from Tregaminion Farm, nestled on the picturesque Lizard Peninsula. This enchanting location offers a magical experience where you can wander through a forest of Christmas trees adorned with beautiful decorations, brimming with festive magic. If you find yourself in Cornwall next December and in search of the perfect tree, a visit to Tregaminion Farm is a must!
After the season’s festivities had drawn to a close and our guests had departed, we faced the question of what to do with our cherished collection of trees. As a business committed to sustainability and minimising waste, we were thrilled when a local school reached out with a unique request. Ludgvan Academy School’s Community Farm Project was looking for Christmas trees to repurpose for their farm animals - we knew we had found the perfect solution.
Instead of having our trees collected by local refuse, we loaded them into a van and sent them to Ludgvan School Community Farm, where they’ll now serve as enrichment for their animals.
This inspiring farm project, part of Ludgvan Academy School, began during the first lockdown as a simple vegetable patch and quickly blossomed into a thriving community hub. With the help of students, the farm now houses a variety of animals, including chickens, ducks, turkeys, sheep, pigs, goats, and rabbits.
Ludgvan Community Farm champions the belief that children should have access to a vibrant outdoor curriculum as part of their education. The farm is integral to this, complemented by a well-stocked garden, nature area, and an on-site Forest School. Together, these spaces offer students opportunities to develop essential life skills and foster a deep connection with the natural world. During school holidays, families are even invited to help care for the animals, strengthening the community spirit.
To express our thanks for taking the trees, we have donated gardening tools, seeds, and gloves to support the farm’s ongoing efforts.
As we bid farewell to our Christmas trees, we look forward to the year ahead and wish you all a joyful and prosperous 2025. We hope to welcome you back soon!
