A visit to Tanglewood…
If you go down to the woods today…
An old nursery rhyme that certainly rings true after a trip to Tanglewood.
Located on the outskirts of Penzance, and only just a short 15 -minute drive from the Sail Lofts complex, Tanglewood is akin to something you might find in a Tim Burton film -quirky, magical, fascinating but so unbelievably beautiful, it’s well worth a visit if you’re staying in St Ives in our dog friendly accommodation as Tanglewood is the perfect venue for both you and your four legged friend to get a much needed run around in amongst the fascinating and wild woods of Tanglewood.
With so many surprises awaiting you at Tanglewood its hard to pick my favourite, but the ponds scattered with stunning water lilies, the fairy bells in the trees and the traditional garden games were most certainly up there, the vast opens spaces are perfect to sit down and grab a bite to eat in the warm weather.
The thoughtful little touches and laid back vibe also made a refreshing change. Admission is taken via an honesty box, which is guarded by a big green frog (of course!) and as you descend the path through the wood the owners have foraged the woods for suitable walking sticks and left a bucket of walking poles for those that might struggle with the uneven terrain.
If you’re after something a little out of the ordinary I would highly recommend a visit to Tanglewood. Its worth knowing there are no catering facilities on site so we took our own picnic and flask of tea but there is no shortage of stunning spots to sit and enjoy the beauty of it all.
