Enjoy mild days and the remaining light evenings without the crowds in what is arguably the county’s most beautiful season. Despite September heralding the end of peak season in St Ives, there are still plenty of things to do in and around the town throughout the autumn. Make the most of your autumn St Ives holiday with a stay in a luxury apartment just a stone’s throw from the beach.

St Ives September Festival

Running from September 8th to 23rd, the September Festival is St Ives’ famous two week celebration of music and the arts. Throughout the town artists open their studios, walking tours are given and live music can be found spilling out of every pub door. The September Festival shows St Ives truly embracing and celebrating its creative heritage and is an event not to be missed!

Dog Beach Ban Lifted

The 1st of October brings the lifting of the summer dog beach ban throughout the county. Make the most of this freedom by bringing your four legged friend with you to St Ives and experience Sail Lofts – St Ives’ luxury dog friendly accommodation. Enjoy a windswept walk along Porthmeor Beach, or breakfast with your hound on Porthgwidden Café’s outdoor terrace.

Watersports

If you visit in early autumn make sure to explore the many different watersports on offer in Cornwall. The sea will still be warm from the summer sun, but you will not be have nearly as much competition for space in the waves as in the summer holidays. Porthmeor Beach – just metres from your luxury holiday apartment – boasts a fun and friendly surf school in a beautiful location. If you’d prefer to try your hand at sea kayaking or SUP head over to Porthminster Beach, just a ten minute walk from Sail Lofts.

Food Festivals

Whilst Cornwall hosts a wide variety of food festivals throughout the year, there is an abundance of them in the autumn, in part to coincide with the seasonal produce from the harvest. Some of the best include the Falmouth Oyster Festival (11th – 14th October) – a favourite with locals and visitors alike – and the Little Orchard Cider & Music Festival (14th – 16th September).
