March in St Ives

Spring is here! Finally! Winter’s heavy head of rain, continuous morning frost, and the habitual stinking flus, colds, aches and pains doing the rounds are finally on their way out of the door! Hurrah!

Also March is a wonderful month, poised just perfectly for you to appreciate both the staggering sunrises that crest over the Harbour in time for a very social morning coffee in Pells at around 8am – 8.30, and just the most vibrant cerise to rose tinted sunsets across Porthmeor Beach between 5.30 – 6pm every evening.

It is in these twilight moments that you capture a different side to St Ives, one that makes these cobbled streets glow and come alive, sparkling in the wake of the day and evening ahead. Bringing an excitement of what’s to come, that I can not quite match in experience to any other seaside village in the south west that I have had the pleasure to frequent, St Ives just has it.

Has it something to do with the way in which the sunrises and falls across this north coast peninsula that forges out in to the Atlantic, surrounded mostly by the sea?
