We have been busy over the last few weeks creating a wonderful selection of fine wines for our guests to choose from while they are enjoying their holiday or short break at Sail Lofts - St Ives.
We now have a license to sell the wines and we have a wonderful and carefully chosen selection - welcome to Sail Lofts Wine Cellar.
The Sail Lofts Wine Cellar
The way we see it, supermarket wines are all very well but when you are on your well-earned holiday or break, it’s nice to treat yourself to something rather special and enjoy the finest tastes on offer while you enjoy your stay in one of our self catering apartment in St Ives.
All the red wines in the Sail Lofts Wine Cellar (and many of the white wines too) come direct from our family cellar and have been there since they were bottled and sent direct from the vineyards in France and Spain or even as far as California. A number of these wines would be difficult if not impossible to find anywhere else in the UK and, if you were lucky enough to track them down, you would struggle to buy them at our price level.
So why not indulge yourself and taste some of the finest wines from around the world, taking your palate on a journey from the banks of the Duero in Iberia to the vineyard of Château Léoville-Barton in Bordeaux. Each wine on offer in the Sail Lofts Wine Cellar comes endowed with their own history, coming from the vineyards of Rapaura in New Zealand, or the grapes of Le Bon Climat vineyard in Santa Maria Valley where owner Jim Clendenen's perseverance to the cooler climate grapes helped produce a fantastic wine shaping the opinion of critics and customers alike. Each bottle in the Sail Lofts Wine Cellar has been crafted with care and are an outstanding opportunity to sensualize your palate during your St Ives retreat.
The wines carefully curated as part of the Sail Lofts Wine Cellar can each be distinguished by their provenance as a fine quality wine, in your apartment you will find tasting notes to accompany you and help aid your choice when picking the perfect wine for the evening, so here’s just a small selection of what is to hand in the Sail Lofts Wine Cellar:
Domaine De L’Arlot Clos Des Forets Saint Georges
“This is an outstanding example of Burgundy wine-making at its best. Absolutely stunning balance with wonderful length and subtlety, allowing the characteristics of the Pinot Noir grape to shine. Wonderful notes of wild strawberries and summer fruits coupled with an almost creamy smoothness. A stunning and very classy wine.”
Greywacke Wild Sauvignon
“Kevin Judd of Greywacke is now recognised as one of New Zealand’s top wine makers and his ‘Wild Sauvignon’ Blanc is one of his most impressive wines. This beautiful wine has notes of white nectarines, blood orange and melon together with subtle hints of tarragon and linseed, a perfectly balanced wine."
Chablis Premier Cru, Montmains, Domaine Gérard Duplessis
“This is an exceptional wine and displays a classic Chablis character. The flinty minerality is perfectly balanced with notes of citrus, green and gold apples, lemon, together with hints of oak. This wine is a wonderful accompaniment to fish, shellfish or chicken and white meats."
