What to do in St Ives this Spring
Spring has well and truly sprung in St Ives. Songbirds are out in full force as Easter has welcomed in the warm weather to St Ives and the town begins to move away from those crazy snowy March days on Porthmeor and move towards the sunny weather we all know and love. As the season begins to take full effect the reasons to visit St Ives becomes an ever-growing list. Of course there's the things we've come to expect - hot sunny days spent relaxing out on the beach or those days where the weather's simply perfect to explore Cornwall's vast winding picturesque coast. St Ives Gin and Prosecco Festival - 21st April
Gin and Prosecco fans unite at this celebration of the two drinks at the Guildhall. Tickets are priced at £13 which allow you to discover artisan brands of both drinks and enjoy samples and take away any you might enjoy. Perfect for families
Talking Art - Modern Art and St Ives - 29th April
Having been a fixture of the gallery since its reopening in March 'Modern Art and St Ives' has attracted visitors from far and wide looking to discover modern artist's relationships with the town. Until the 29th of April you can join a member of the Tate team for a guided tour of the exhibition and take in the histories and relationships of artists such as Ben Nicholson, Peter Lanyon, Naum Gabo and Paule Vézelay.
St Ives Literature Festival - 12th to 19th May
The annual event returns in May for eight days of literary celebration. Join Poetry and music in Norway Square on Dylan Thomas Day (14th) or Jill, Jim & Jazz, Philip Larkin by Rod Humphries at the St Ives Library on the 16th. The literature festival is celebrated throughout the town so there's something to stop by and enjoy every one of the eight days.
St Ives May Day - The Guildhall - 1st May
The St Ives May Day celebrates the arrival of Spring, and with it traditional customs of the town that have been passed down throughout the years. Local choirs and brass bands perform throughout the day and celebrate the traditions of Cornwall. The May Day can be experienced throughout the town on the day and is the perfect way to welcome in the season.
